Al Shands

Outside of Louisville Kentucky, among stunning fields of green, lies Great Meadows. The home of Mary and Al Shands, Great Meadows was built in 1988 and was designed by David Morton to absorb their large collection of art. With exceptional pockets of natural light and a landscape that is complimented by different site-specific sculpture installations, Great Meadows is the life-long collection of two people's artistic interest.

The Shands' indoor collection includes works from such artists as Tony Cragg, Sol Lewitt, and Anish Kapoor. The outdoor installations are site-specific commissions that are designed to compliment the Kentucky landscape. Various artists including Maya Linn and Zaha Hadid have contributed to the outdoor collection.
